INTRODUCTION Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), previously called nosocomial infections, are now defined as any infection that is not incubating or present at the time of hospitalization, and that develops 48 hours or more after hospitalization or within 10 days of hospital discharge.1 Infection control in pediatrics needs unique considerations as there are several factors differing from adult populations and findings in adults may not be relevant to pediatric populations.
